FLASHDANCE 15 THIS SATURDAY (7/19/2008): Van Ness @ CITY HALL

Our next FREE outdoor dance party will be: Saturday 7/19 from 7:30PM to 9:30PM at on Van Ness (across from City Hall)

EGADS! There hasn't been an FD in FOREVER! What is up with that! ACK! Actually I have good reasons (work+travel+drama) BUT THERE ARE NO EXCUSES! Let's DANCE! We'll return to where I wanted to have the last one, near City Hall..... The last one was awesome (not withstanding battery problems - I think my battery is working fine now - CROSS YOUR FINGERS....)

SO WHADDYA SAY? UP FOR A LITTLE SHAKING THIS WEEKEND? Please oh Please?..... You + Me + Trikeasaurus near City Hall ON THE VAN NESS SIDE - this Saturday! OK? I know this is a little shorter notice than usual, but it IS a flashmob, people. Work with me :-)

GIVE ME MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Before the last FD, I asked people to give me there requests and I'd try to work some in. It worked SUPER WELL. So I'll definitely try to play some more suggestions. I'm looking for things that I don't already play that GET A LOT OF PEOPLE HAPPY AND DANCING - email me with suggestions, links from the iTunes store, places I can download etc. NOTE: These need to be high quality song fiiles (so no 128Kbps MP3s - 160 at least! 192 preferred!. FYI: most of my stuff is not MP3 but rather 128Kbps AAC.)

GET SMS (TEXT) UPDATES ON YOUR PHONE: The best way to find out the status the night of the FlashDance is to get SMS messages - that way if I'm running late, or we've had to move or whatever you'll get a message on your phone.

To get SMS notifications, you can either send a text message with FLASHDANCE to 41411, OR for all you TWITTER heads, you can follow the TWITTER instructions at the bottom of this email. In either case, you'll get SMS updates on your phone from me on FlashDance nights!

WHERE: We'll do it on across from City Hall on Van Ness between McAllister & Grove (http://tinyurl.com/q8m4j). NOTE: IF WE GET SHUT DOWN BEFORE 9:30 - we'll move it to over by the Asian Art Museum maybe - but the best way to know is get SMS messages (see above)

DETAILS: FlashDance is a flash mob dance party.  Basically, we set a time and a place & show up.  I'll be there with a sound system & DJ up a storm.  You. Will. Boogie. Bring friends, drinks, cookies, whatever you want!  IF YOU BRING ALCOHOL - PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU COVER IT - WE ALMOST GOT SHUT DOWN FOR THIS ONCE. Tipping the DJ with dark chocolate, peanut butter M&M's (no Reese's pieces) or Henry Weinhards' ROOT beer always appreciated :-)

Actually, for FD, I recommend the simple 41411 option above, because that is JUST flashdance info, but I know some of you, just love the twitter.

RANDOM PLUG: One of MY FAV Summer events is this Saturday. It is Tour De Fat in Golden Gate Park! A day full of fun and silly bikes and music and, for most of you, beer - put on by the fine folks at New Belgium Brewery & the SF Bike Coalition. This event is always BIG FUN & I highly recommend it. I'll see you there!

Also, while we are on the subject of biking in our fair City! PLEASE HELP - the SF Bicycle Coalition is holding an important rally at City Hall on Monday to deal with the fact that our Bike Plan is in even further jeopardy - meaning that the City is even farther behind in putting in new bike lanes and new bike parking. GRRRR. This a bigger deal than I want to go into here, but PLEASE check out the SFBC website & come to the rally!
